I started my career in 2002 as an Art Director at Lowe Bull Cape Town, where I was thrown right into developing brand campaigns which included, TVCs, print and press ads, posters, outdoor, POS and retail promotions for clients like Nike, Coca-cola brands, Johnson & Johnson, The Cape Times Newspaper and a sports apparel store (Totalsports/Sportscene). My responsibilities were comprised of concepts, art direction, design, supervising still shoots, illustrators and TV commercials. In my three years there, I won various awards at the Loeries, IMNA Awards and Ad on the Month.

From there I moved on to Bester Burke for two years, sharpening my skills on TVC campaigns, print, and POS working on cosmetic brands, alcohol brands, fruit juices and an internet provider.

I then spent six years at the award-winning Jupiter Drawing Room Cape Town where I worked on many Blue Chip clients including, but not limited to, Sanlam Financial Services, Hyundai, the Mediclinic Hospital Group, Woolworths Food, Design Indaba and Glacéau Vitaminwater. My responsibilities included conceptualizing, designing and art directing full 360 campaigns, which involved TV, print, web, online, social, in-store, experiential design, activations and outdoor. I added value to the company by developing relationships with clients and presenting work to clients.

I then shifted my focus to align with the digital world and fell in love with User Experience Design. I started designing responsive websites and integrated campaigns where digital was the main focus. My proudest moment was proactively coming up with an app idea for a Mediclinic and then leading the content, UI, UX and all design work, dealing closely with the developers to make it into a reality. I continued to win awards, including a Gold Loerie for my work on Design Indaba’s integrated campaign and a bronze award at The Bookmarks for my app.

In 2014 I wanted to learn more about the inner workings of a digital brand and the business side of things, so I started a job as a Senior Designer at one of South Africa’s most well-known e-commerce stores: Yuppiechef.com. I was involved in refreshing the brand, managed the design of all online newsletters, I worked on social content, promotions, brand and retail campaigns as well as packaging design, product design, and print.

In 2015 I took a position as Senior Art Director at Crio agency, where I created full digital and social media campaigns, pitches, re-branding digital solutions for clients, packaging design, visual identities and logo design. I worked closely with the creative director and managed juniors to create meaningful experiences for brands like MTN Solution Space, Computicket, Diageo, Mint Technologies, TowerBridge, and Nurugo.

In late 2017 I moved to Amsterdam and in 2018 started working at Takeaway.com as a Lead Visual Identity Specialist. Together with a team, I created the new visual identity and brand guidelines for the global company. I then became the creative manager in 2019, leading the in-house creative studio to achieve top class work for both digital, print and campaigns.
